More and more patients are reporting difficulty getting the medications they need to maintain their health. However, in our complicated healthcare marketplace, patients can experience everything from high-costs to insurance denials to problems at the pharmacy counter.
To get a better sense of what patients experience, the Patient Inclusion Council is seeking input from patients through an online survey to help determine what issues individuals encounter when they try to access their prescribed medications.
Patients or caregivers who rely or have relied on prescription medication to manage their health are encouraged to participate. We hope to capture extensive information on patient-reported affordability or access issues, as well as reasons why a drug is affordable or accessible. Those interested in sharing their perspectives on the medications they take and any issues they have encountered can take the survey via Survey Monkey.
The comprehensive survey was created by patient research partners (PRPs), research professionals, and patient organizations. The initiative aims to accurately capture patient perspectives and identify true affordability or access challenges that patients face to better inform health policy and reform efforts.
The results of the study will be shared with Prescription Drug Affordability Boards (PDABs), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and legislators in an effort to better inform drug affordability reviews. By understanding patient-reported issues and concerns, we can better create health policies that address these needs and foster better health for patients.

The Patient Inclusion Council aims to empower patients and caregivers to shape healthcare policy through peer-led education, perspective sharing, and activities to ensure patient-reported needs are incorporated into drug affordability solutions.
